최선녀(Sun Choi)

Sun was interested in teaching ever since she was in high school. She would play school with her friends and volunteer to be the teacher of the group. With such rewarding experience, she went to California to pursue her master’s degree in education. By student teaching in public schools and volunteering to teach in private institutes, she slowly gained confidence in teaching and decided to step into the education field. Sun has taught in universities and corporate settings as well as gained experience as an Academic Manager in an English for Academic Purposes institute. Sun is happy to be a part of Yonsei FLI and hopes that everybody can enjoy their study here at FLI.

Bernard Kim

Bernard S. Kim (Bernie) has been a University Instructor and Adult Conversation, Business-English and Corporate Instructor in Seoul since 2009. In the past, Bernie has conducted classes for Samsung Electronics, Samsung Insurance, and DuPont Korea. In addition, Bernie was a long-time Instructor and Cross-Cultural Advisor at BCM Speakingworks (민병철어학원). Bernie joined Yonsei University FLI in 2013 and he is eager and excited to share his passion for TEFL and develop the language skills of his students. On a personal note, Bernie is a foodie and avid sports fan. When he has free time, he loves trying new restaurants, bars, and local-eateries all around Seoul.

Courtney Lyn Zach

Growing up in the shadow of the infamous buffalo chicken wings, Courtney, has since moved to the darkest corners of the Land of the Morning Calm. She has gained considerable experience teaching, writing, editing, and devouring many of the world's vegetables since moving to South Korea. She is not only an active participant in the foreign art community but also completing an MS in Second Language Studies at Stellenbosch University. Having already published two children’s books and working on a third about monsters (naturally), she has proven to be an adorable monster of creative and literary output.

Jennifer Kreisz

Jennifer Kreisz is a certified High School teacher from Toronto, Canada but she decided to pursue her passion for teaching abroad after graduating from the University of Waterloo with a BA in English Literature and a B.Ed in English Language from the University of Windsor.​ Over the past eight years, she has taught Academic English Writing, Writing for Specific Purposes, Translation, and Business English at Induk, Polytech, and Seoul National University of Science and Technology. She also has a geeky side – creating English and Math contents for Smartphone apps, such as ‘Math Park’ for EduTech. She completed her MA in English Education at Korea University with a focus in Linguistic and Pragmatics. This is also where she is most passionate when it comes to her research—examining where pragmatic transfer poses challenges for her students due to differences in the Korean and English languages. When she is not busy teaching, Jennifer enjoys studying Mandarin, eating lots of barbeque, and doing every outdoor sport imaginable!

Mark Rasmussen

  • Degree M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) / B.A. in Linguistics
  • Origin Utah, USA

Mark Rasmussen found a deep interest in language and language learning while living for two years in Brazil, learning and using Brazilian Portuguese. With that interest, he went on to obtain a B.A. in linguistics with a focus on second language learning. His primary interest has been sound and phonology with particular interest in the Korean sound system. He has taught at various levels in South Korea, from elementary to adult students. While teaching, he also completed an M.A. in TESOL where he developed a game-design enhanced approach to language learning. When he is not teaching humans, Mark can be found training and playing with his Welsh Corgi, Charmsky, who loves to chase balls, sniff everything and be a good boy.

Shant Immanuel Davidian

Shant Immanuel Davidian is originally from Los Angeles, California. He is a native English speaker, as well as heritage speaker of Eastern Armenian. Mr. Davidian holds a BA in Asian Humanities from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where he completed multidisciplinary coursework and research in the fields of East Asian studies, General Linguistics, and Indo-European Linguistics. He came to South Korea in early 2013 as a scholarship recipient through the Korean government-sponsored program called Teach and Learn in Korean (TaLK). Thereafter, he began attending the Academy of Korean Studies, where he majored in Korean Language and Culture. His research interests include Korean Sŏn (Zen) Buddhism, Classical Chinese Translation, and Korean Historiography. Simultaneously, he has successfully completed the Korean Immigration and Integration Program (KIIP) and enjoys participating in various programs organized by the Seoul Global Center. Some of his favorite books include Isaac Asimov’s Robot Visions, Carl Sagan’s The Dragons of Eden, and Junichi Saga's Confessions of a Yakuza.
